Redemption Art Print (Graduation Edition)
An art print of my piece Redemption. It's an artistic representation of a vision I had of the 3 perpetrators that I believe murdered my cousin, Joshua Bersuch, and him returning as a guardian angel.
In my vision, the 3 figures were sucking the life force out of me, like Dementors from Harry Potter, and just when I felt like giving up this my cousin arrived falling from the sky as an angel of fire, wielding a sword in which he severed their vampiric connection to me. Once severed, I felt immense relief and peace as I watched my cousin ward off the Dementors and help me back on my feet.
This piece serves to remind me of the spiritual dimensions around such tragic events as murder and to honor the memory of my cousin whose life was cut short. I take some solace in seeing him return as an angel signaling to me he found the redemption in the afterlife he never got in this one.
This piece is full of symbols representing our relationship, particularly those of Hip Hop.
Joshua Bersuch a.k.a the graffiti artist "Redemer" was brutally murdered in the neighborhood of Globeville in Denver, Colorado, on April 25, 2004. He was beaten, stabbed by multiple assailants stripped of all his clothes, thrown in a dumpster, and his body was lit on fire. He was 19 years old and his murder has never been solved. Case# 04-18683.
I was 10 years old when Josh was killed and this murder has haunted me most of my life and has had a profound effect on shaping me into who I am today. I am glad I was able to honor him in this way and hope he truly has found some peace in the afterlife that he never had in this one.
